Things to do

Wine
Of course a visit to the Hunter Valley is not complete without trying some of our most famous produce.

With over 120 vineyards throughout the Hunter there is no doubt you are sure to find something to satisfy the taste buds and wallet. And most wineries will welcome your furry family members with open arms! Keep in mind though, that due to OH&S laws, your dog may not be allowed in to the cellar door itself. But they are most welcome to take up a patch of grass out front and relax whilst you taste some of the Hunter's finest. Some wineries even have club membership for your dog!

Food…
Wine and food go hand in hand. And to compliment the amazing range of wines on offer in the Valley we have some of the finest restaurants and cafes in the country. Below are links to some of our favourite places to get a bight, ranging in price and atmosphere, but all who welcome you and your furry family members:

From the air…
Try ballooning, skydiving, aerobatics or helicopter and Tiger Moth joy flights – all available in less than half an hour’s drive from Tabitha Hill. One firm on Cessnock Airport also provides joy flights in a 2 seat jet training aircraft  - we believe a most memorable experience.

… to the ground.
Go horse riding. Spend time bushwalking in the Watagans or Broken Back Mountain and cycling in the Werakata National Park. In Mt Yengo National Park you can see fine examples of Aboriginal rock carving. Try your hand at fishing in Lake St Clair above Singleton. A quiet drive around the Vineyards – catch the sight of a mob of Kangaroos grazing in the late afternoon or the rare and magical sight of a Wedgetail Eagle soaring over the countryside. At Nulkaba just out from Cessnock you will find the local Zoo a worthwhile visit particularily for children.

...Events...
Each year a number of concerts are held in some of the vineyards. These feature well-known, internationally renowned artists. Annual events include Jazz in the Vines, A Day On The Green, Hope Estate ConcertsLovedale Long Lunch and Sculpture in the Vines. Tabitha Hill Cottage is well located for all these events. It is noted that Coach pickup centres located in the district facilitate transport to the major concert events. Again "Rover Coaches" are worth contacting for this service.
